Cool weather doesn’t slow excitement for Youthfest
October 2, 2011 Mike James The Independent ASHLAND — The raw October wind wasn’t bothering Kelsey Salyers, who was huddled against the chill with a group of friends at the Ashland riverfront Saturday afternoon. They were waiting for the bands to take the stage behind them at the Youthfest Christian music festival, and that explains why the 17-year-old high school student wasn’t complaining about the weather. “It’s still another day that God has granted me and everybody else,” she said. In fact, she met a new friend with whom she has much in common — Jessica Lea Crawford of Milton, W.Va., who shares her passion for art and has launched an on-line art ministry that Salyers would like to emulate. “I wanted to find someone to talk to. https://www.facebook.com/iStandMovement I was an extra in the Our Hearts Hero music video for their song "Shine On" . I am running through the crowd in the black pants, black hoodie and teal shirt. My hair was black and long at the time. I happened to grow up with their drummer who is featured in this video. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was representing Man, WV for him, he said, so I am glad I decided to do it. So for a moment I was a flashlight girl.
